Ги Лалиберте – основатель самого известного цирка – Cirque du Soleil, долларовый миллиардер, космический турист и создатель самого дорогого покерного турнира с бай-ином в миллион долларов.

Ги Лалиберте – биография
Родился будущий создатель самого известного цирка в мире в 1959 году (2 сентября) в Канаде (город Квебек) в семье медсестры и директора корпорации, занимающейся алюминиевой продукцией. Талант циркача у мальчика проявился еще в детстве, он часто устраивал развлекательные спектакли для своей семьи и друзей: играл на губной гармошке и аккордеоне, пел и танцевал.
Уже в старших классах Ги Лалиберте понял, чем хочет зарабатывать на жизнь, поэтому начал развивать свои таланты: в школе он участвовал в постановке пьес, а также в организации различных развлекательных шоу. Как признается сам Ги, навыки, полученные в школе, очень помогли ему в построении дальнейшей карьеры.
После окончания школы канадец отправился в путешествие по Европе автостопом, взяв с собой всего $1000. Позже он понял, что ему не хватит имеющейся суммы, поэтому Ги Лалиберте начал выступать как уличный артист. В свободное время он много наблюдал за лучшими уличными музыкантами и циркачами и учился у них. Именно в Европе он самостоятельно освоил искусство глотания огня.
Когда будущему миллиардеру исполнилось 20 лет, он вернулся в Квебек и устроился на гидроэлектростанцию, чтобы получить стабильность и «нормальную» работу. Однако все сложилось не так как задумал Ги Лалиберте. Через три дня работы на предприятии была объявлена забастовка и парень получил пособие по безработице. Ги решил, что это знак судьбы и вернулся в индустрию развлечений.
В скором времени Лалиберте познакомился с будущим компаньоном Даниэлем Готье и начал выступать вместе с ним в труппе, где ставил номер на ходулях.
«Цирк Дю Солей» и покер
Уже в 24 года Ги стал руководить шоу «Аисты». Это случилось перед 450-летним юбилеем открытия Канады. Ги Лалиберте принял решение переименовать шоу в «Большой тур цирка солнца», а потом и вовсе сократил – «Цирк Солнца» – «Цирк Дю Солей».
Благодаря тому, что в шоу Лалиберте выступали артисты различной направленности, как уличные, так и цирковые, шоу быстро получило достаточно широкую известность, несмотря на скромный в первое время заработок.
Уже к середине девяностых «Цирк Дю Солей» завоевал свое место среди самых востребованных и популярных цирковых труп мира. В 2000 году Ги Лалиберте купил долю, принадлежащую его компаньону Даниэлю Готье. С того момента и до сих пор 95% всех акций находятся во владении Лалиберте.
Большая популярность «Цирка Дю Солей» принесла невероятное богатство его владельцу. Уже после того, как Лалиберте стал богат и знаменит, он обратил внимание на покер. Сейчас, по оценке Forbes, состояние канадца оценивается в более чем 2 миллиарда долларов, что делает его пятым в списке самых богатых людей страны.
Знакомство Ги Лалиберте с покером состоялось в Лас-Вегасе, где он был со своим шоу. Он часто бывал в казино, где иногда играл в покер. Первое время, игроки очень радовались, когда Ги садился с ними за кэш-столы, однако вскоре ситуация изменилась – он научился обходить своих оппонентов.
Состояние и популярность владельца самого известного в мире циркового шоу стало причиной, почему Ги Лалиберте стали приглашать на крупные покерные мероприятия. Первой крупной победой для канадца стало четвертое место на турнире WPT по безлимитному холдему, где он выиграл почти 700 тысяч долларов. По признанию Ги, интерес для него представляло сыграть за одним столом с одними из лучших игроков мира. В той игре он выступил против Скота Фишермана и Карлоса Мортенсена.
Еще большую популярность Ги Лалиберте получил, когда полетел в космос в роли туриста. За 35 миллионов долларов он стал седьмым космическим туристом и третьим по счету канадцем, переступившим этот рубеж. Причем, двое остальных канадцев были подготовленными космонавтами.
Многие назвали данный поступок просто пиар-ходом, многие осудили его за расточительность. Но расточительным и легкомысленным его назвать нельзя. Ги Лалиберте является филантропом. Около 100 миллионов долларов канадец пожертвовал в фонд некоммерческого One Drop Foundation, который занимается обеспечением питьевой водой нуждающихся по всему миру. А в 2007 году даже получил звание «Благотворителя года». Именно он организовал самый дорогой турнир в рамках Мировой покерной серии со входным взносом в миллион долларов! И назвал Ги Лалиберте его в честь One Drop Foundation. Каждый раз после проведения турнира Big One Drop процент от всего банка перечисляются в фонд. В 2018 году организация получила около 2 миллионов долларов.
